The Biggest Loser

The students were talking about a television play called “The Biggest Loser.” Our signal reception is a bit inconsistent in Hell, so I’m not sure what’s been lost, but it reminds me of a parable.
Three servants are given valuables by the master. The most talented is given 5, the less talented 3 and the least talented 1. The ones with 5 and 3 doubled the value, but the third servant buried his, so all he has to show for his “efforts” is exactly what he was given.
The master was furious and tosses him out on his ear, which confused one of the students, who reminded us that the Good Book says it’s easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than for a wealthy man to enter the kingdom.
But the parable isn’t referring to monetary wealth, it’s referring to the wealth of gifts—of talent or skills—that we are given. And the message is that if we hide our talents and don’t use them for good, we have wasted these gifts.
See if you recognize this in yourself or others. Are we using our gifts for good?
